Davina Quinlivan: Icons of Exeter - Storytrails of Magic, Myth and Migration
Inspired by iconic symbols (objects, statues, waterways) associated with the history and heritage of Exeter, writer Davina Quinlivan researched and developed six story trails referring to her own personal history of the city, interwoven with mythologies and stories connected to Exeter. The trails – which people can follow on self-directed walks – also contain work developed with the three participants involved in the mentoring strand of the project. Through this commission, Davina developed networks with the Devon and Exeter Institution, Bookbag and local independent shops, which are displaying the printed trails. This work has also enabled her to develop and strengthen her creative practice as a travel writer, place-based author and life-writing educator interested in place-building and community engagement.
